Grooming

Cats are generally very clean animals, however professional grooming is recommended for the following:
Short-Haired Cats: Bath minimally 2 times a year
Long-Haired Cats: Bath minimally 4 times a year

Nails should be trimmed (be careful not to cut the quick-the pink part) and ears cleaned. If you notice a black waxy residue please have your vet to examine for a possible yeast infection or ear mites.

When grooming long-haired cats:
It is very important to help maintain your long-haired cats coat to avoid matting. Brushing everyday is recommended.

Never use scissors when trying to remove any mats from their coat. This is very dangerous and could seriously injure your cat by cutting or puncturing the skin and result in a trip to the vet.

FLEAS
Be sure to properly treat your cat should you notice a problem with fleas. It is very important to use the correct flea treatment (especially with kittens, older cats or cats with health concerns). Also, be aware that if your cat has fleas, then you have fleas in your home-which must also be treated to completely kill the flea life-cycle.
